Discover Alabama’s diverse natural history by participating in the 36th Annual Museum Expedition Camp! Participants will have the fun and unique opportunity to work with scientists in the fields of archaeology and paleontology as part of an actual scientific research project to explore the natural wonders of Alabama. Students, teachers, and adults will spend a week at the Expedition field camp working with scientists to learn excavation techniques, laboratory procedures, and specimen identification.
The Museum Expedition combines real exploration, with real science to create a unique experience and lasting friendships. THIS IS NOT YOUR ORDINARY SUMMER CAMP!
SUMMER 2014! We are pleased to announce the dates and locations of the 36th Annual Museum Expedition this coming summer. Participants will have the opportunity to meet friends, explore new surroundings, and conduct field work in historic archaeology on an early Alabama plantation.
We invite you to explore an area of rare opportunity as we dig into the past to gain a glimpse of what life was like on the Alabama frontier. Work side-by-side with archaeologists to discover important facets of Alabama’s antebellum history.
We will be offering three sessions this summer and like last year each camp will start on a Monday and will end on Saturday.
Middle School Camp (6, 7, 8th Grade): June 9-14
High School Camp (9, 10, 11, 12th Grade): June 16-21
Public Archaeology Camp (ages 14 to adult): June 23-28
